Work with me

Advice on powder coating equipment, lines and sourcing — from someone who does this every day.

Equipment selection

Which gun, booth and oven combination actually suits your parts and output — and where a cheaper option is genuinely enough.

Line planning & sizing

Pre-treatment, conveyor, coating and curing sized against real part geometry and target output per shift, not against a standard package.

China sourcing & factory vetting

Finding the right factory, checking that what they build matches what they claim, sample approval, pre-shipment inspection and export documentation.

Defect troubleshooting

Orange peel, pinholes, back-ionisation, poor adhesion, uneven film build. I work through cause and effect until the real variable is found.

Training & documentation

Operator training, coating parameters, maintenance schedules and SOPs your team can actually follow after the engineers leave.

How it works

  1. 1. You describe the job

Part material and size, what you coat now, how much you need per shift, and the constraint you are stuck on.

  2. 2. I come back with options

Usually within a working day: what the process needs, which equipment category fits, and a rough order of magnitude on cost.

  3. 3. We take it further if it is worth it

If you want to move ahead, I help specify the line or introduce suitable factories and stay involved through sample approval and inspection.

What to send me

The more of this you include, the less back-and-forth we need.

  • Part material, and a photo or drawing with approximate dimensions
  • How many parts (or square metres) you coat per shift, and target output
  • Your current process — or "nothing yet" if you are starting from zero
  • The specific problem or decision you are stuck on
  • Constraints: floor space, available power, budget range

Terms, plainly

  • Short technical questions are free. If you describe your part and your problem, I will answer — no obligation, no form.
  • For line sizing, equipment selection, factory vetting or on-site work, I take on a limited number of engagements at a time.
  • I usually reply within one working day.

Before you write

What does it cost?

Short technical questions are free. Line sizing, equipment selection, factory vetting and on-site work are paid engagements; I will tell you which category your request falls into, and the fee, before anything starts. No hourly surprises.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, on request, before you send drawings or process details. If you would rather not disclose something at the first contact, describe the part in general terms — that is usually enough for a first answer.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. A large part of what I do is telling people that a cheaper option is enough, or that their problem is not equipment at all. That answer is worth as much to you as a quote.

Can you visit our plant?

Possible for larger projects, subject to schedule and location. For most cases, photos, a video of the line and a description of the defect get us to a usable answer without a flight.
